Watch for this

On an older Viking or Pfaff, check the manual for the format it reads; very old models want HUS or PCS instead of VP3.
Even in wide hoops (360 × 200 mm) keep 5 mm clear at the edge so the presser foot doesn't hit the frame.

VP3 carries the thread name; with another thread brand, pick the closest thread to the swatch on the production sheet.
